When I was in elementary school, my dad worked for a movie and game rental business similar to Blockbuster (who he would later work for, but that’s a story for a different day). Anyway, we’d often visit him at work. While I enjoyed seeing him, my true passion was going to the candy buyer’s office because he always had the latest and greatest products the store considered selling. No one should ever be surprised by my job when I share pieces about my childhood, but I digress.
I always found sour candies fascinating, even in elementary school, because they felt more like interactive, edible toys than something to be actually enjoyed. There were Willy Wonka’s Shock Tarts, Zotz, Ring Pop Sours, Toxic Waste, and so many more.
