Despite what some politicians claim, grocery prices have increased significantly. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, your weekly food run has risen 29% since February 2020. However, August saw the largest price hike, 0.6%, the biggest monthly rate change since October 2020.
Predictably, consumers are turning to house brands as they feel the squeeze of inflation and tariffs. Unsurprisingly, grocer Aldi is refreshing its packaging now, as their whole M.O. is to offer highly competitive alternatives to national brands. In fact, according to the retailer, approximately 90% of the products it sells in stores are private label.
