Celebrities lend their appeal to products and brands all the time. While I understand the logic behind choosing a famous person’s fashion or fragrance products as an exercise in aspirational commerce or purchasing sports drinks and supplements backed by a professional athlete, pet food confounds me.
Why would anyone want to feed their pet the same food Marvel actors feed their pooches? And being a renowned human food chef doesn’t necessarily translate into being a talented chef for animals. And it’s not like a recording artist knows anything about veterinarian nutrition, either. Sure, these folks are successful in the arts, but they probably know about as much as any other typical pet owner when it comes to feeding animals.
Our furry companions don’t know who Rachael Ray is or how comically bad she is at cooking pad Thai, so star power does not affect their food preferences. But celebrity clout significantly influences human purchasing decisions, including what kind of kibble to pick up for our canine compatriots. Before you make dietary decisions for your animal amigos, you should talk to a veterinarian and follow their advice instead of listening to the pretty people on TV and TikTok. I don’t know how healthy or good any of the following brands are for pets, but they’re all backed by famous people. We’re just going to talk about the packaging and save the nutrition critique for experts in that space.
