Why would anyone package batteries in plastic packaging and blister packs?
It’s one of those silly questions you ask yourself when you write about packaging all day long. Most of us already know what a AAA battery looks like, and its appearance doesn’t really tell you anything about its performance. It seems superfluous and a waste of plastic.
That’s why it’s refreshing that Energizer recently revisited its packaging and decided to go with a paper-based solution. The press release includes a tiny disclaimer that points out that the seals are not either plastic-free or recyclable, but it’sstill a significant step forward in making battery packaging recyclable and mostly plastic-free.
