Green Eggs and Ham is a book by beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss. In the book, the main character, Sam-I-Am, tries to convince another unnamed character to taste the titular dish. When the character finally capitulates, they ultimately enjoy it. They love it.
What started as a $50 bet between Suess and his editor that the former couldn’t write a book with a vocabulary of fewer than fifty words has become a hit enjoyed by generations of children. The book has also inspired many chefs to create their own IRL version of green eggs and ham, resorting to ingredients like parsley and spinach, or food coloring.
In celebration of Green Eggs and Ham’s 65th anniversary, Spam and Dr. Seuss Enterprises have partnered to offer a limited edition twin pack of the ham-like tinned meat in specially themed packaging. Additionally, Spam has unveiled the first “official” green eggs and Spam recipe.
