Located in the East Sussex town of Lewes, Beak is a brewery founded by food and drink writer Daniel Tapper. While Tapper’s passion for beer is evident, his love for the printed page comes through in a unique collaboration and packaging with independent publisher Faber & Faber.
The latest brew from Beak’s partnership with Faber features author Lally MacBeth and her book The Lost Folk. The beer, a 5% Double Dry Hopped (DDH) ale, is guest edited by MacBeth, and the label depicts a group of people dancing around a maypole in a field during a festival. Unlike most beer can labels, however, Beak and Faber’s beer collab includes a 1,000-word excerpt from MacBeth’s book. To fit the excerpt and author bio, the label is extra long and peels open.
